CERTIFIED RV TECHNICIAN

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

 

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Certified RV Technician or Apprentice to join our team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have a passion for recreational vehicles, a keen eye for detail, and in-depth knowledge of RV systems and mechanical repairs. As an RV Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining RVs, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally for customers’ safety and enjoyment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspection and Diagnosis:
    Inspect and diagnose issues within various RV systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, appliances, and other essential RV systems.
  • Repairs and Maintenance:
    Perform repairs and maintenance on RV systems, including electrical wiring, plumbing, heating, cooling, air conditioning, water systems, and appliances like refrigerators, stoves, and microwaves.
  • Installation:
    Install and upgrade RV components such as solar panels, satellite systems, entertainment units, and other RV-specific accessories.
  • Preventive Maintenance:
    Conduct regular maintenance tasks to ensure all systems in the RV are running smoothly, including inspections, cleaning, and system checks (e.g., water, electrical, and gas systems).
  • Customer Interaction:
    Communicate directly with customers to explain issues, suggest solutions, and provide guidance on RV care and maintenance.
  • Documentation:
    Maintain accurate service records, repair logs, and warranty documentation for each vehicle serviced.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    Ensure all work complies with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies. Follow proper safety protocols when handling tools, chemicals, and RV systems.
  • Training & Development:
    Stay up-to-date with the latest RV technologies, systems, and industry trends through continuous education and certification renewals.

Qualifications:

  • Certification:
    The ideal candidate would hold a recognized Canadian RV Technician certification (e.g., Red Seal Occupational Standard (RSOS) for Recreation Vehicle Service Technician. or RVDA Canada Certification), or other equivalent certification for RV technicians.
  • Experience:
    Our preference is a person with a Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in RV repairs, maintenance, and diagnostics.

Skills:

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and plumbing troubleshooting skills specific to RV systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Knowledge of RV appliance systems, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and water systems.
  • Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and hand tools for RV-specific repairs.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in various weather conditions. Ability to perform tasks requiring physical dexterity, such as bending, kneeling, and standing for long periods.

 

Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers and document work accurately.

 

Wage Range:

The hourly wage for this position ranges from $26.00 to $45.00, depending on experience, qualifications, and certifications.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with a wide range of RV makes and models.
  • Additional certifications such as Canada’s RV Technician Certification (RVDA), Red Seal Plumbing, or related certifications.
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record; a Class 5 or higher driver’s license is preferred for driving RVs.
  • Familiarity with the latest RV technologies, including solar power systems and modern RV electronics.
